About Sleep Apnea

Common symptoms include loud snoring, pauses in breathing during sleep, waking up gasping or choking, excessive daytime sleepiness, and morning headaches.

Sleep apnea is diagnosed through a sleep study (polysomnography) that monitors breathing patterns, oxygen levels, and sleep behaviors.

Treatment options include CPAP therapy, oral appliance therapy, lifestyle changes, and, in some cases, surgery. Oral appliance therapy is often recommended for patients who prefer a non-invasive treatment option or have difficulty tolerating CPAP.

Yes, oral appliance therapy is effective for mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea and for patients who cannot tolerate CPAP therapy. It works by repositioning the lower jaw and tongue to keep the airway open during sleep.
